My sister recently visited from Germany. She has got my dads bike fixed for his fathers day present (its been out of service for 3 or 4 years) and it inspired me to get mine fixed too. My bike used to be my mom's bike so it is of a certain vintage. I rode it around for an hour and it gave me a terrible blister from gripping the brakes for my life, because they don't work, not to mention a very bruised behind. I think I am going to try to find/buy a new one. I don't want to get stuck inside this summer, even though I am dancing all the time.
I'm trying to do a road trip with some friends to see Spamalot on Broadway this thursday. We were thinking about driving but it costs so much and is such a hassle with directions, driving, and parking that I think a bus would be much easier. That's still a road trip, right?
Still trying for burning man, I have a few more people to call. The whole plannng process for it is such a parental teen headache, but I'm not giving up.

Monday
So it's Monday. I'm beginning the second week of my summer vacation. I have realized a few things in the past week. The first and most pressing is that my job hosting at Bertucci's is only going to earn me about $30 a week because they have hired too many people and can only give me one shift a week. So I'm on the hunt again. I also have to wait two weeks to try a ballet class before I sign up for adult summer intensive with Boston Ballet. My mom talked about contacting some fashion people to arrange something for me during the summer. Maybe I could get an internship with one of her old friends in pattern making. Everything is still up in the air as for this summer. Well we'll see.

June 12th, 2007
So I recently finalized my plans to go to India with Where There Be Dragons for this September. I'll be there for three monthes traveling, doing home stays, community service and independent study. They find placements for you in many different fields. I was thinking about doing something in the silk industry to learn about eastern clothing traditions and textiles in general.
I was considering going somewhere this summer like a student trip for month or so but the time got away from me and the marine conservation trip to Mexico I wanted to do filled up. It was going to be with Global Visions International. I'm going to try to do it later in the year, so next spring. My plan for the summer is to stay home and work at Bertucci's and dance every day. Then in August I am going to take a 2 week intensive for adults with the Boston Ballet. I found out about this program by word of mouth in a ballet class. It is from August 6th to the 17th. Then on the 27th I am going to try to go to burning man. It is a temporary city that functions without money in the desert in Nevada where everyone contributes through art for one week. I got in contact with my old math teacher Jeremy Gross who I remembered had mentioned it and am waiting to hear back as to if any of his contacts will take me along. Surprisingly I am going to be in the area because my cousin is getting married in San francisco on the 25. I am finding more and more that really is who you know. So far I have just been relaxing and getting back in shape for dance. I hope to have a more journal like voice in future blogs. This was really an adapted post written for my facebook group for other "Gappers" where I just want people to share how they got things done. I'm trying to lead by example so to speak. Hopefully the group will be a helpful place for everyone to discuss the ups and downs of going freelance for a while. Well I'll write back soon.
